They are beginning to be everywhere, just kind of watching

But I think this will help for those out there with a facebook account. So, to comment, you can comment using your Disqus login, your facebook login or neither. I recommend logging in because it will give you more flexibility to moderate your own comments.

Off to class,

So, this post is very self indulgent.

In episode 81 I mentioned using Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog in one of my classes. That set of classes wrapped up today, it was pretty informal or I would give you pages with questions etc. Anyway, I had decided to get a DVD copy of the show so I would have the subtitles etc.

If you haven’t seen it, go check it out on hulu.com if you are in the States or start here on YouTube if you aren’t. The show is about 40 minutes or so and well worth the time.

Part of the story is about Dr. Horrible trying to get into the Evil League of Evil. Well, the producers solicited applications from the web, which is where my giggling starts. Do a quick search for ELE or Evil League of Evil on youtube to check out some of the videos that were submitted.

Now the surprising part. As you may know, our theme song was written and performed by Mark Blasco. (to see more of Mark’s work, clink on the Podcasts Themes button there on the right side). So, I was watching the DVD and saw the Special Features area, clicked on that and waded into the ELE applications on the DVD. To my surprise, the video below (showcasing Mr. Terrible) came up. Great audio on the track by the way. But there was something very familiar. I hadn’t paid much attention to the title or the creator of the first one. The song was really catchy and so I checked who the submitter was…. Lo and behold, our very own Mark Blasco held the First Position on the disk!!!!

Congratulations to Mark, both of his videos are pretty cool. (My favorite is still Mr. Terrible.) Check out both of his sites, PodcastThemes and MarkBlasco.com.

Tune in to find out!! This week we ramble on about the new teacher vs. research. It also counts for those of us who have been around a while. I actually cite a paper in the episode only to realize that it was the wrong one!! the actual paper that I refer to is:

Rankin & Becker, Does Reading the Research Make a Difference? A Case Study of Teacher Growth in FL GermanThe Modern Language Journal, 90, iii, (2006)

A nice little case study about the topic at hand. I don’t want to spoil the ending so you’ll have to listen to the show!!
